Drawing Competition on Traffic Awareness Organized by EWDL
Children Sketched Portraits to Inspire Society

Indore, May 28 2011: Entertainment World Developers Limited organized drawing competition at Treasure Island, Indore on May 28 2011. Around 5 thousand students of various schools took part and sketched creative artworks to inspire people to drive safely on roads.

The competition was based on theme ‘Save a Life’ and ‘Clean Indore’, the CSR campaigns of EWDL.

“This is the first phase of ‘Save a Life’ and ‘Clean Indore’ campaigns. Students of around 15 schools participated in drawing competition today. EWDL will distribute prizes to winners on Sunday”, announced Savinder Singh, Executive Vice President of EWDL.

Arif Sheikh, Executive Director of EWDL told, “we often express deep grief and sorrow over the tragic deaths in road accidents. However, only bereaved families have to bear the irreparable loss. To curb the rising tide of road mishaps, we’ve weaved in the concept of ‘Save a Life’ which transcended 'cheque book' philanthropy of the corporate sector. We’ve organized this drawing competition in a high-octane energetic fashion to evoke the people to value their lives & drive safely on the roads”.

MP Sajjan Singh Verma Praised Children
Member of Parliament, Sajjan Singh Verma encouraged the students and appreciated the efforts of EWDL. “In the last several weeks, this campaign has received tremendous support from people of the city. More than 20 thousand students have written letters to parents asking them to drive slowly & safely. In co-operation with traffic department, EWDL also honored the 2-wheeler and 4-wheeler drivers, who were found following the traffic rules”, told Sheikh to Sajjan Singh Verma.

‘Clean Indore’ is EWDL’s another campaign aimed to inspire citizens of the city to maintain hygienic conditions. Speaking to media, Savinder Singh told, “As you know, Indore Municipal Corporation is taking several measures to maintain cleanliness in the city. EWDL is supporting government machinery by floating a strong message motivating people to keep their surroundings clean”.

On the occasion, Arif Sheikh quoted, “Trees are the ultimate friends of humans. They produce oxygen, clean the soil, control noise pollution, provide shade and coolness, act as windbreaks and check the soil erosion. ‘Clean Indore’ will also focus on conservation of greenery in the city”.

The 2-day conference-exhibition-award function organized by IMAGES Group on May 13 & 14 commenced with the inaugural address by Jayant Kochar, Director & CEO, IMAGES Group. Conference along with awards function remained extremely successful with warm response from entire retail industry. Participants expressed hope that the challenges like differential tax rates, unplanned growth in cities, unavailability of government land etc will be resolved in the coming years as the retail sector comes on fast-track growth. 

A highly-engaging workshop on Mall Management was also organized. The workshop discussed ways to differentiate a mall from existing market and the role of managers in commercial success of the shopping mall.

Arif Sheikh Receives Standing Ovation

Mumbai, May 13 2011. As soon as Arif Sheikh delivered a power-packed presentation on the stage of Image Shopping Centre Awards 2011 (ISCA), audience went irresistible over giving a standing ovation to him. It’s the first time in history of ISCA that standing ovation was given to a speaker.

Seems like the Retail Industry which gathered at the stage of ISCA at Hotel Renaissance in Mumbai ended up chanting the name of Arif Sheikh, the Executive Director of Indore based Entertainment World Developers Limited (EWDL). Audience which comprised big-league of retail industry was seen following Sheikh after he presented views on ‘Innovation and Indian way of Managing Shopping Malls’.

The awards night started with EWDL announced as ‘India’s Most Admired Shopping Mall by Retailers Choice’. Treasure Island (first shopping mall of EWDL) came up with fine colors after a tough contest with the malls located in metro cities. Arif Sheikh received the award trophy from Mr Amit Bhagaria.

An Impressive Presentation
The green and yellow neon lights flashed around this Retail Executive with 23 years experience. The entire conference transformed into a one-man-show with the crowd madly applauding his originality of views. He hasn't lost his touch even for a fraction of second. Sheikh was dazzling in a white shirt with a red-and-black stripe tie.


"Indian retail industry is yet in its infancy,” Sheikh addressed the audience. "India has over 1 billion people, more than half of whom are under the age of 25 years. From being 5-10% today, the organized Retail Industry will reach 15-20% within a blink. A real boom is waiting all of us”, he added with a pin-drop silence in the hall.

And from there, the conference turned into his show; Sheikh held the audience rapt and people responded to his views with wow, great and kudos. It was as if the awards night had been filled with family and friends listening to tales from a storied elder.

Sheikh talked about his experiences. He showed a presentation on ‘Treasure Island, the first Shopping Mall of EWDL’.
